The Step Ahead Program is a supported accommodation program for single young people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Step Ahead can:

  • Provide you with temporary accommodation, shared with one other person
  • Support you to develop skills and knowledge to live independently
  • Work with you towards achieving your goals

Step Ahead clients have rights and responsibilities that must be agreed to before entering the program. These include:

  • Participate in regular Living and Life Skills workshops
  • Be enrolled in and undertaking an education, employment or training activity
  • Be present for support visits with your worker at least twice per week

The Step Ahead program uses accommodation provided through the WAYSS Property Services program. This allows you to develop a rental history and to gain the knowledge to live independently in the future. You are required to sign a lease and abide by the rights and responsibilities of the Residential Tenancies Act.

Entry Criteria:

  • Links to the City of Casey
  • High support needs
  • Be willing to engage in intensive case management
