The Indigenous Tenants at Risk Program provides support and advocacy assistance to Indigenous people who are tenants or prospective tenants of Aboriginal Housing Victoria (AHV) or the Office of Housing (OoH).
The program aims to establish or maintain Indigenous tenancies by supporting tenants to address issues placing their accommodation at risk through individual case managed support. A support worker can help you to:
- Identify and address underlying issues that may place your tenancy at risk of breakdown. (eg: rent arrears, inside and outside property condition issues.)
- Support you to actively participate, where possible, to achieve identified goals, thus increasing your independence and ensuring the tenancy is sustainable.
- Maintain your current housing and prevent you from becoming homeless.
You can contact us yourself, or the community and its supports may refer you.
A worker from Aboriginal Housing Victoria or the Office of Housing may refer you.
WAYSS ITAR services are funded to provide assistance to people in the Cities of Greater Dandenong, Frankston, Casey and the Shires of Cardinia and Mornington Peninsula.
