WAYSS Step Ahead Program is a medium-term supported accommodation program for single young people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. It provides intensive case management to young people with high-level support needs who require assistance in overcoming barriers to housing and developing their independent living skills. The program aims to assist these young people to move onto long term, stable and secure housing with, ultimately, reduced support. The accommodation provided in the program is medium term, located in the City of Casey, and is shared between two residents of the program. During their support period in the Step Ahead Program, young people are required to engage in some form of Education, Employment or Training as well work on a case plan created together with their case worker.
Entry Criteria:
- 17-21 years of age
- Links to the City of Casey
- High support needs
- Be willing to engage in intensive case management
- Be willing to engage in education, employment or training
- Be willing to engage in living and life skills development
Step Ahead program assessments are intensive and involve a residential assessment component, whereby a young person resides at WAYSS Emergency Youth Accommodation for a minimum of two weeks.
